Establish what has failed
Ask what the assessment found, whether the proposed repair addresses the cause and whether other issues remain. A fault code or symptom alone is not a complete diagnosis.
Compare the whole cost
Request the repair scope and an appropriate replacement option separately. For replacement, include installation, removal and any service alterations. Keep any incentive assumptions visible.
Consider the next few years
Discuss the condition of the system, parts support, warranty status and whether your household's needs have changed. A cheap immediate fix and a suitable long-term choice are not always the same.
Questions to ask
What is included? What is excluded? What is the expected next step if the repair does not resolve the issue? Which warranty applies to parts, equipment and workmanship?
