Replace like for like—or review the alternatives
Start with your existing unit, the number of people at home and how you use hot water. A familiar replacement may be appropriate, or it may be worth comparing a heat pump or another system type. We will discuss the practical constraints before narrowing the options.
Know what is in the quote
Ask for the exact model, installation scope, removal of the old unit and any electrical, gas or plumbing alterations to be set out. GST, applicable incentives and exclusions should be clear, so you can compare the total installed cost.
Plan the changeover
Tell us whether the existing system is still working and whether you have access restrictions. The installation date, stock availability and any other trades needed should be confirmed before work is booked.
What to discuss
- Current system and installation position
- Household use and peak demand
- Available power or gas supply
- Access and old-system removal
- Warranty terms and future servicing
Your questions, answered.
Can I switch from gas to a heat pump?
It is an option to assess. The proposed location, electrical supply, system suitability and gas disconnection work need to be considered before quoting.
Is installation included in a system price?
Not always. Compare written installed quotes with the same inclusions, rather than the appliance price alone.
Do I need the same tank size?
Not necessarily. Review how your household uses hot water and the performance of the proposed model before choosing capacity.
